A few days ago a few office mates of mine decided to go on a food trip to A.Venue, a posh looking mall-like place along Makati Avenue. I’ve been hearing a lot about this burger joint there called Burger Avenue that has been getting a lot of pretty good reviews. They’ve also been running a very interesting promotion – finish one of their biggest burgers in 5 minutes and you get it for free! I eat a lot but I’m a rather slow eater so I didn’t really expect to win the free meal. Here’s a picture of the infamous Burger Avenue Ridiculous Burger.

I won’t do my normal restaurant review since I’m focusing here on just one dish and I literally zeroed out on everything except this burger. A review of this harrowing dining experience after the jump.
I think the name of the burger sums up the entire experience. It was just ridiculous. The damn burger was just soooooooo big that it took more effort to eat it than a Judo training session for 2 hours. If you can’t see the picture very well, the burger has three gigantic patties and other toppings as well like tomatoes and lettuce. I tried biting into it but it was so big it couldn’t fit in my mouth and the burger ended up hitting my nose, LOL.
Over-all though the burger actually tastes pretty good. The meat was so juicy that it literally dripped out when you bite into it. The only problem here is that it was just too much to handle. If you want to enjoy eating at Burger Avenue, then stay clear of the Ridiculous Burger. By the way, it costs P255 if you don’t finish it in 5 minutes. It took me more than 15 minutes to even get through half of the damn thing (I was having fries though and was taking my time).
So what’s the feeling after finishing it? You’ll be drained, tired, happy, and very sleepy. Reminds you of another physical activity? Lol.
I’m definitely going back but maybe after a month. My stomach will probably be digesting the damn thing for the whole of February. Thanks to Jake, Joey, and Rick for going with me on this “Ridiculous” adventure!

I will have my turn!! Baka kuya mo can do it in 5 minutes?
Ridiculously over the top Burgers is a promotional gimmick that almost every burger joint is doing. McDonald’s Double Quarter Pounder, Burger King’s Triple Stacker, Wham! Burger’s 1/3 pound Burger Patties, and the list goes on. Most of the time when you eat these kinds of Burgers you’ll regret it. Not because it didn’t taste good (OMG! they’re delicious) but because your body will feel like it took a beating afterwards. Your stomach will feel like it’s gonna burst, it’ll be hard to move for some time, and depending on the time of day you may feel drowsy.
One time my workmates and I went to Burger King after a busy Friday shift. We all ordered over the top burgers; I got a Steak House Burger while some went for the Triple Stacker and some for the Whopper, and all of them with a side of large fries. I took us over 20 minutes to finish the Burgers and 10 more minutes to finish the fries but afterwards we stayed in the restaurant for two more hours just chatting and waiting for our food to digest and bodies to normalize, and after that I couldn’t eat anything for the next 12 hours.
Over the top burgers are great and kilometers away in regards with taste from your regular Burgers (like Burger McDo and Regular Yum) but if you really want to enjoy them and avoid the side effects, don’t eat the whole thing, eat half then take the rest home in a take-out bag or better yet bring somebody with you and share the Burger. You may think its embarrassing or “baduy” but believe me it’s better than the alternative.
Bro mukhang masarap yan ah.. if you would rate it 1-10 what would it be?
@Dodge: Yes, my brother can definitely finish it in 5 minutes. He’ll even have spare time.
@Gooseman: I couldn’t agree with you more. Burgers like this are just promotional. I can even still feel the “beating” that you talked about. Lol. No burgers for a month for me.
@John: I’d give it an 8. So you have a comparison, Wagyu burger would be 10, and Mcdo Double Quarter pounder would be around 4-5.
Btw, I’d give Burger Machine’s Bart Burger a 7. Lol.
Me want burger!
@Mich: Me want Burger Machine. xD
hmmmm i think im up to that five minute challenge hahahaha!!!! maybe ill visit that burger joint when i recieve my 1st salary
one of my officemate can take that challenge, guaranteed! ^_^

Kayang kaya ko yan! 3 mins lang ubos na yan. Kahit payat lang ako mas matakaw ako eh.
I’ll never try it in 5 minutes. Di ko ma eenjoy yung burger that way.
Oh I had a bad experience with the Burger Machine near my place. A cockroach jumped on the buns on the hot plate. ROFL. Then the guy flicked it away with the spatula and the cockroach reappeared later on to jump on my friend’s head. ROFL.
Kadire.
