Contis has been known for their pastries and pasta for quite some time now. One of my personal favorites there is the cheese puffs. It’s one of the best pastries I’ve ever had in my life and I will continue to patronize Contis even just for those insanely delicious little things. Last week, Mich and I went to Contis for a lunch date. By the way, I think they also have a branch in Serendra, Fort, for those who frequent Makati more. We ordered the Ribs, Pork Chops, a Shrimp-potato like appetizer, and of course, Cheese Puffs!

So what’s so nice about the Cheese Puffs? I can’t really put it in writing. Just get it when you pass by Contis or you’re missing half of your culinary life on this planet.

Moving on, let’s discuss the appetizer. This shrimp-based meal was really something that caught me by surprise. It was really affordable at less than P150 and it just tasted really great. Mich didn’t like it as much as I did though. I personally like it how they combined what seemed like mashed potato inside the breading before you actually bite into the shrimp. Now on to the main course!

Here’s another dish that caught me by surprise. You’d think that a pastry-based shop wouldn’t be able to serve really good chops but seriously this is one of the tasty chops I’ve had in a long while. The meat’s texture was just perfect – not too hard and not too soft either. The gravy they used wasn’t overkill, and it didn’t drown out the taste of the pork. The servings was also quite generous. I’d also like to take this opportunity to tip my hat off to the waiter who recommended that I get this one. Really a good decision.

There’s really nothing special about the ribs. It tasted pretty much the same as any other ribs that you get. The BBQ sauce was also okay, nothing extraordinary. In this industry though being normal / okay can be a good thing seeing as a lot of other restaurants keep on messing up supposedly easy-to-prepare dishes.

I’m definitely going to visit Contis again and try out the rest of their menu. I can’t give this place a perfect score but they’re definitely doing a good job in running the place. The waiters are courteous, the food delivery is quite fast, and the price isn’t too steep. Contis is perfect for family meals and cozy dates.
Don’t forget the Cheese Puffs. Yes, I want more. Might swing by today to get me a box. Hahaha!

Mango Tart! Ice Cream Cake! Hehe, haven’t tried their meals yet. The Connecticut branch is always soo full.
@Dodge: I love the Mango Tart as well man. I heard their Baked Salmon is also good. Will definitely try it out next time I visit.

@Lieza/Pred: Thanks for the info on the branches. I’ll update the post later. Regarding their Chicken ala Kiev, I’ve tried that already and yes, it’s really good. Thinking of trying out their Roast Beef next time I drop by.
I think they’re known for their Mango Bravo. Its this huge cake, about 5 layers high. Hard to store though, coz it has to fit your freezer. Mango Bravo is really good with coffee
Personally, I think Conti’s as a restaurant needs to learn more about servicing their customers. Their kitchens can produce a satisfying meals (comparable to pancake house) but their waiting staff lacks training. Not to mention – they have poor sanitation habits.
Okay I’m really really interested with that Mango Bravo thingy. Kamesh you’re like the 5th person this day who told me that I should have tried it. ><
that’s their best seller, the mango bravo, its prang meringue na me nuts n mango.but i prefer choco overload n the mango cream cake

when i see conti’s all I can think about is the “mango bravo”,it’s one hella dessert for me! for most restaurants in serendra i’d attest to the fact that conti’s is the most affordable place to eat at without ever regretting a single cent spent. i really haven’t tried most of their hot food but for their desserts i’m giving them a two thumbs up.:)
Okay, I’m really curious now about that Mango Bravo thingy since all of you are raving about it. Will pass by Contis tonight to take out. Hahaha. xD

Conti’s has 4 branches. Paranaque, San Juan, The Fort and Trinoma. Love the Mango Tart, Shrimp and Mushroom Pasta and Blueberry Cheesecake.
Most of the time the place is packed during meal time. But it is worth the wait.
