I was invited last week to dinner by the owners of Marina. We picked the Metrowalk branch since I always see their restaurant there but haven’t really tried their food yet. Anyway, I was expecting your typical Filipino seafood cuisine but man was I surprised with how good the food was! Based on our discussion with some of the managers of Marina, their stocks are always fresh and are shipped from Iloilo, especially their sea bass and oysters.

Brought along some friends to help me “test” the food

For appetizers we were treated to two platters of delectable oysters baked with cheese, butter, and garlic. My friend Bu doesn’t actually like oysters but he found himself enjoying the dish. This variation of oysters served by Marina is juicy, tender, and just delicious. What makes it even more appealing is that one platter is under P300 which is much more affordable compared to Oyster Boy and Via Mare. Lower price but same – better quality! What else can you ask for right?

Yummy Oysters!
What followed next was wave after wave of heavenly food, haha! We were treated to Crispy Pata, Kare-kare, and Sinigang. I ate only a few bites of those dishes because I was eagerly waiting for their specialty: Sea Bass. And boy, it did not disappoint! Their Sea Bass is one of the best grilled fish dishes I’ve ever had in my life and I won’t be surprised to find myself eating at Marina every now and then just to savor the sweet, tender, and succulent taste of this fish. If you drop by Marina, please do make it a point to order this dish!

Insanely good Sea Bass
Another item that deserves mentioning is their Seafood Soup. Unlike other soups like this which is clear, Marina decided to take a more thick and creamy route. It has the traditional consistency of mushroom soup but instead of just mushroom, each spoonful is like diving to the ocean and coming out with a variety of sea fare.

Creamy Seafood Soup by Marina
Two thumbs up to Marina for the great dining experience. I’ll definitely be back.
If you’re with a group of friends and you want to unwind, relax, and chill for the night, this is a good place to consider. Sometimes there are bands playing at the center of Metrowalk so that can be an added bonus if you’re in to those kind of things.

beth keep it up. love you my friend
I first tried Marina in Iloilo around 2003, at their stand-alone restauratn and at the mall. Of course I prefer the restaurant. But Marina has since been a part of me, just like the Ilonggo’s have a special place in my heart, I’ve been to their branch in Glorietta, at Boom na Boom, at MOA (most recently, with a balikbayan sister, and 22 other clan-members), at Market, Market, and always go back to the one in Metrowalk. Should I say more? Best I like is grilled tanguigue. and their sea bass, stemed of course.
