As you guys have probably noticed by now, Mich and I are big fans of Japanese restaurants. We love sushi, sashimi, and sukiyaki. That’s probably one of the reasons why I feature a lot of Japanese restaurants here. Anyway, a month ago we visited a cool place in Eastwood Mall called Mr. Kurosawa. Apparently this is a restaurant under the management of Marvin Agustin, who also owns Sumo Sam. The concept for Mr. Kurosawa is Euro-Japanese cuisine. It’s a very interesting fusion of flavor and the dish selection was also very diverse.

Mr. Kurosawa Sushi Platter
QUICKIE FACT SHEET
Name: Mr. Kurosawa
Location: Eastwood Mall
Type: Japanese
Price Range: Main Courses (P200-P500+)
To start things off we had two kinds of Sushi. We had the generic Sushi platter and some sort of Dynamite Maki variation. The Sushi platter had generous servings but was a bit pricey. There was also only one sample per type of sushi. So unless you split the Salmon Sushi in half, only one person will enjoy it, hehe. Their custom Maki’s were also good but nothing that could make me scream in delight. Here’s a picture of the other Maki that we had:

Mich ordered some sort of fancy sounding chicken dish. We were expecting something unique but we were both kinda disappointed when we found out it was just your generic chicken fingers with french fries, hahaha! I remember asking the waiter what was Euro-Japanese about that dish? Anyway, it’s a good thing though that it tasted nice. Nothing too spectacular to make me rave about it on this site. I ordered one of their more pricey options – their Japanese Paella. I was really excited to taste this but again it was a bit of a disappointment. I’m not sure if I just have high standards but it tasted well… plain. It was just like they put Chicken Teriyaki and Shrimp on Java Rice. Here are the pics of both dishes for your appreciation:
In all honesty, I didn’t feel that I got my money’s worth in terms of the food. However, the ambience and the style of the restaurant is just phenomenal. The chairs felt good and the feel of the place was just surreal. It really felt like Euro-Japanese. Whoever made the interior design of this joint should get an award or something.
Mr. Kurosawa is a good place for dates, especially if you’re out to impress your special someone. Might be a good place to spend valentines.

ate here with my family on valentine’s. we had sukiyaki (tasty, a bit too sweet). also had the assorted sushi and japanese paella (rice could be better but the shrimp and chicken were good, just not worth the wait). pricey for a couple, but for four (and we couldn’t finish everything), quite ok.
the foods looks really yummy and mouthwaterinhg, the pics looks good too
