Mr. Kurosawa (Eastwood Mall)

As you guys have probably noticed by now, Mich and I are big fans of Japanese restaurants. We love sushi, sashimi, and sukiyaki. That’s probably one of the reasons why I feature a lot of Japanese restaurants here. Anyway, a month ago we visited a cool place in Eastwood Mall called Mr. Kurosawa. Apparently this is a restaurant under the management of Marvin Agustin, who also owns Sumo Sam. The concept for Mr. Kurosawa is Euro-Japanese cuisine. It’s a very interesting fusion of flavor and the dish selection was also very diverse.

Marina

I was invited last week to dinner by the owners of Marina. We picked the Metrowalk branch since I always see their restaurant there but haven’t really tried their food yet. Anyway, I was expecting your typical Filipino seafood cuisine but man was I surprised with how good the food was! Based on our discussion with some of the managers of Marina, their stocks are always fresh and are shipped from Iloilo, especially their sea bass and oysters.

Bizu

A lot of my clients and friends know that my second home is a quaint and fancy restaurant in Promenade, Greenhills, called Bizu. The main reason why I’m always there is that there’s free wi-fi, great coffee, and fantastic sweets. Their main courses are a bit pricey but this is an excellent place to kick back, relax, and have cake-coffee.

Maki House

It’s been a while since I last posted here! Sorry to everyone for the absence. I’ve been very busy for the past few months. I’ve set up my own Marketing Consultancy Firm and I’ve also been working hard at my new job at Friendster Inc. Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that I’ll be resuming this blog again. I’ve compiled tons of pics and reviews of restaurants that I’ve been to in the past few months and I’m really excited to get this blog up and running once more. To kick things off let me share with everyone a really quality and affordable authentic Chinese restaurant that Mich and I fell in love with – Maki House.

Maki House’s Maki (Sticky Pork Soup)

Maki House serves traditional chinese cuisine. I’m not Chinese but I can definitely appreciate good and affordable food any day, haha! Mich and I ordered their house specialty, Maki (Sticky Soup with Pork), Fried Rice, and their Siomai. First let’s discuss the Maki. There are two variations, one with noodles and one without. Since I’m not a fan of the noodles, we went with just the normal version with soup. The large order just costs P115 and it can easily feed two people. The soup is sweet and sticky and the pork is cooked just right. This goes really well with the fried rice, hehe! Continue reading

Krispy Kreme Fave Fan Search Contest

I used to be a big fan of donuts, especially during my high school years. I was really psyched up back then when I found out that Krispy Kreme would be coming to the Philippines. Fast forward a couple of years and here we have several branches already scattered all over the metro. If there’s one thing I’ve noticed that they do really well, it’s how they locally market their offerings. I remember seeing UAAP-themed donuts being sold. That definitely expanded the donut market here in the country. Now they have a new thing going on called the Krispy Kreme FaveFan promo. Continue reading

Ravioli

I’ve always hated eating at food courts. People say that the food there is affordable but the fact of the matter is the quality is very questionable. That’s why I was a bit hesitant when I got an invitation to go to a food tasting for a newly opened restaurant in Robinson’s Galleria Food Court called Ravioli. However, I eventually decided to go since it’s been a while since I’ve had Italian food. Let me just say that I was really in for a surprise. This place is nothing short of a gourmet masterpiece.

Seafood Island

After watching a movie a few weeks ago, Mich and I decided to eat at one of the restaurants in Eastwood City. We decided to try Seafood Island. One of our first observations was that almost all of the waiters really looked like pirates, hahaha! I mean, several of them had long hair tied in a ponytail. Heck, our waiter even had a beard, lol. Talk about getting into character right?

Who says Church is boring?

A lot of people think that attending church every Sunday is boring. Well, that’s not always true, haha. Here’s a video of a surprise performance during Sunday service last Sunday at Victory Greenhills. 2008 World Hip Hop Dance Champions the All-Stars performed the offering number during the tithes segment.

Mainit! Wooo. :)

Pier 1 Tomas Morato “Parking Boys”

Mich and I are currently in Pier 1, Tomas Morato. It’s a good thing they have free wi-fi here, haha. Anyway, I just wanted to make a quick post. While I was parking, a young kid was there at the parking space in front of the restaurant and guided us to the spot. When I got out, he asked me for P40 parking fee. WTFOMGBBQ!? P40? That’s more expensive than the parking fee I paid Greenhills this afternoon when I went to church! I asked him if he was with Pier 1 and he said yes. To cut a long story short, I paid him the P40 but I made it a point to ask the guards and their supervisor if the kid was with the restaurant. As Mich and I suspected, the kid really wasn’t associated with Pier 1, and one of the guards even explained to us that they’ve been getting a lot of complaints about the “Parking Boys” from a lot of their customers already. It’s a good thing though that the guards were able to recover my P40. But now I’m kinda afraid for the safety of my car, hahaha. >.<; Anyway, let this be a warning to all of you who have plans of eating at Pier 1 Tomas Morato. If a guy asks you for a parking fee, don’t give them anything. Personally I wouldn’t have minded giving the kid spare change after I’ve eaten and maybe he’d help out in guiding the car back out, but that’s not the case. He literally scammed me and that kinda ticks me off.

Custaroons by Gigi

Last week I received an e-mail from Gigi asking if I wanted to review her Custaroons. She was kind enough to even deliver the products straight to my office in Makati during our lunch break. I briefly chatted with her and she’s a very pleasant lady, and I can tell that she’s very serious about her business. Anyway, she gave me a box of Custaroons and Chocolate Poppers. I took both boxes up, chilled it a bit, and ate it together with the Marketing Department of Level Up. Heaven on earth people.
