As promised in my last post, here’s the review of Peri-Peri. It’s another good find along the strip of restaurants in Greenhills Promenade. Peri-Peri actually went a lot of re-branding and renovation the past few months. It was initially a semi-open air restaurant that had a very casual feel to it. Now they’ve transformed it to a more posh and hip joint with better interiors, menu, and staff. Note that they also increased prices of their dishes. I guess semi high prices comes with the “posh restaurant” territory. Anyway, Peri-Peri is a Portuguese restaurant that specializes in grilled food, most noticeably their chicken which comes in different flavors.

Let’s start with the main dish – the chicken. It’s what’s supposedly made them famous. The restaurant is named Peri-Peri by the way because it’s supposed to be some ingredient or spice that they add to the marinate of their dishes. I don’t know if it’s 100% true but I do know that their chicken really tastes great and different compared to your regular chicken dishes offered by various other restaurants. You can pick from three types of chicken flavors – lemon and garlic, spicy, and mild. My personal favorite is the lemon and garlic because it really has this distinct taste that you’ll look for.

Another of their famous dishes is their pork chops. Initially you might find the serving small but it really is packed with soft, juicy, and tender meat that your teeth can sink into so easily. You can literally feel the “meat juice” ooze out as you chew your way to busogville (wow did I just invent a new term?). My only problem here is that the chops costs more than P300. It’s a bit pricey despite the quality and serving size of the dish.

Peri-Peri also serves a mean salad. Mich had this for dinner and I found it quite enjoyable. It’s not the same level as the salad served in Sonya’s Garden but it was still rather okay. I wasn’t able to ask them this time around but when I first went to Peri-Peri and ordered the salad, you could actually ask for a side order of chicken strips.

Over-all the restaurant’s dining experience was okay. Nothing revolutionary, and my wallet kinda felt the damage after we ate. If there’s another thing I could compliment about the place it’s how good the interiors look. I wasn’t able to take a pic but it really looked so “homey”. But not your dirty home – but a really classy and relaxing environment you could relax into. It’s a good break from the busy and noisy mall atmosphere.

Ang mahal na nila ngayon! Dati 120-170 per plate sila! Pfffft!
Is it better than the real Bacolod Chiken Inasal?
