After watching a movie a few weeks ago, Mich and I decided to eat at one of the restaurants in Eastwood City. We decided to try Seafood Island. One of our first observations was that almost all of the waiters really looked like pirates, hahaha! I mean, several of them had long hair tied in a ponytail. Heck, our waiter even had a beard, lol. Talk about getting into character right?

Seafood Island Chicken Sisig
QUICKIE FACT SHEET
Name: Seafood Island
Location: Eastwood
Type: Seafood
Price Range: P150 - P300
We ordered Chicken Sisig, Ensaladang Talong, and Grilled Blue Marlin. Complete review of the restaurant after the break.
Let’s start with the Chicken Sisig. I personally didn’t like it at all. First, it was just too dry. It just tasted like toasted chicken bits mashed together with liver, onions, and bell pepper. Not really my thing. I asked for hot sauce and seasoning but it still didn’t taste too well. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this dish.

Seafood Island’s Ensaladang Talong
You can never go wrong with Talong, haha. This is one of my all-time favorite dishes. Each time I see this on a menu of any restaurant I end up ordering it. Anyway, what’s good to note about Seafood Island’s version is that they use really big and fresh portions of Talong. This was actually better than the Chicken Sisig.

Seafood Island’s Grilled Blue Marlin
Last but not the least, we have the Grilled Blue Marlin. The taste and texture of the fish was superb! Definitely the highlight of the dinner. Only regret here was that the serving was kinda small. Lol. If I’m not mistaken this cost around P230+. If the owners maintained the price and increased the serving this would be a hit dish.

I’ve eaten at Seafood Island Eastwood three times; once with co-workers, once with my family for Mother’s Day, and once with my brother and sister before watching Star Trek. I’ve always enjoyed their food but despite being mainly a seafood restaurant; I’ve never ordered any of their seafood. I’ve always ordered their Lamb Kebab and Honey Barbeque Pork Ribs. It’s just like me to order meat at a seafood restaurant.
The thing I find fascinating about Seafood Island are their Boodles. You can actually order just one of the Boodles in their menu and you can feed a bunch of people at very affordable prices. For those who don’t know what Seafood Island’s Boodles are, they are super-sized combo meals composed of several dishes from their menu tied in by a common theme and served in a banana leaf lined plywood tray as big as their tables. Boodles cost around 700 to 1200 pesos, serves from 3 to 6 people depending on the size you order, and they have Boodles with themes like Bento (with Japanese fares), Boracay (with grilled meats and shellfish, things you would often cook at the beach), and many more. It’s a fun concept and even my Grandmother liked it.
Despite being one of the better restaurants I’ve been to, I’ve had a few constant complaints with every one of my visits. Slow service, unknowledgeable waiters, and food temperature. They’re slow to take your order and take very long to serve your food. Waiters don’t know exactly what’s on their menu and every time I’ve asked about any of their dishes I would get the most basic of explanations; “isda po” (fish), “talong po” (eggplant), “laman loob po” (innards), without any information on preparation or other ingredients. Food is warm but not hot (aside from maybe their sizzling plate items), it’s like the food had been cooked and then left out for 10 to 15 minutes before being served. For now, the way it is, for me, Seafood Island is a “good enough” restaurant but with better waiters it can be a good restaurant.

Now that you mention it, when I asked the waiter what’s their best seller, his answer was “Isda po”. Hahaha. Nice one bro.

@ SI-Technohub no corkage is imposed for wines we brought in. Same policy in SI-Eastwood? The BBQ is gud. the tanigg kinilaw too. And the beer is cheap compared to that at the ground floor resto (Is it Kanin below SI?)
