We stayed in Discovery Country Suites which was literally a heaven-on-earth type of rest house. That place is one of the best vacation spots I’ve ever been to for years! Anyway, that’s for another post. For today, I’ll be discussing a gem of a restaurant we discovered in Tagaytay. We met with a couple of friends and ate lunch at Hawaiian Barbecue. It’s a cozy restaurant inside the infamous lovers’ Boutique Hotel. Their specialty is the Hawaiian Barbecue Baby Back Ribs.

Taking a break from the busy city life by spending quality time in Tagaytay

QUICKIE FACT SHEET
Name: Hawaiian Barbecue
Location: Boutique Hotel, Tagaytay
Type: Hawaiian Food (D’uh)
Price Range (per dish): P200 – P400

Full review of the restaurant after the jump.

Upon our friend’s recommendation, we ordered the Baby Back Ribs. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The staff was friendly and the cooking time was just okay. We only waited for less than 10 minutes before the food was served. Here’s a picture of the Baby Back Ribs that we ordered.

The barbecue sauce that they used to marinate it was excellent! We could literally smell it while the waiter was still coming over to our table with the smoking dish on his tray. Talk about teasing one’s appetite. The meat was soft, juicy, and cooked just right for my taste. Hawaiian Barbecue’s Baby Back Ribs can give Racks a run for their money.

The restaurant is located inside Boutique Hotel looking over the Tagaytay Lake and Mt. Taal. It has a really nice view and there’s always a cool breeze flowing in and out of the restaurant. However, I have one really annoying complaint. Botique Hotel is really a lovers’ hotel. People check in there to do… well you know, that. Most of the rooms just have sliding doors covered with curtains. While eating our food, we looked up and saw a couple in one of the rooms with the curtains drawn to the sides. Well they were having lots of fun. Lol. It’s either they were stupid enough to not realize that the curtains weren’t covering the door or they loved it when people watched them do their thing. @_@

SUMMARY

Rating Card
1 – Waste of money
2 – Satisfactory – just okay. Nothing special
3 – Wow, something to remember.
4 – OMGWTFBBQ I WANT MOREZZ PLZZ

FOOD QUALITY: 3
CUSTOMER SERVICE: 3
RESTAURANT CLEANLINESS: 1
RESTAURANT OVER-ALL RATING: 2.25

Food was superb. Customer service was pretty much okay too. Prices were reasonable. But OMGWTFBBQ PLEASE CHANGE LOCATIONS. I’m sure that this restaurant will soar even higher if they position themselves as a family restaurant. They can’t do that though if they’re located in a hotel-cum-motel type of place.
