For this afternoon I’d like to share with everyone one of our favorite Persian restaurants in Quezon City. No, I’m not talking about Mister Kebab. This is actually a rather new place that opened sometime last year. You’ll find it just after the Katipunan flyover going to EDSA. King Kebab can be a bit pricey compared to your average Persian restaurant but they make up for it with the quality of the food that they serve. Their kebabs are just fantastic and always find myself going here if I have a craving for Persian food and if I have excess cash.

So what’s so special about this place? As the name implies, it’s all about Kebabs – or skewered pieces of juicy meat, lol. They serve a variety of Kebabs – Pork, Beef Tenderloin, and Chicken. While they have other dishes as well like Ox Brain, Keema, and Shawarma, their Kebabs are the ones that stand out and define this restaurant. The Kebab meals come with rice and will set you back around P200, while the other smaller dishes go for P120-150.

My personal favorite here is the King Kebab dish. It’s a combination of all of their famous Kebabs – Pork, Chicken, Beef Tenderloin, and a slab of grounded beef as well. It comes with two rice and it goes for around P350. This is actually good for two and this is what Mich and I frequently order when we go here. You have the option of also upgrading it and turning it to a King Kebab Special. The special costs around P450 and it comes with an additional slice of juicy Beef Tenderloin steak.

The Kebabs served here are really good cuts of meat and it won’t disappoint. My only qualm is that the rice that they serve is medyo “bitin” and it costs P35 just for extra rice. I think they serve a special kind of rice called Basmati or something which makes it more expensive. I’d rather they serve normal rice and charge P10 for it. Another thing to note is their sauce. They have two variants, the normal Persian white sauce and the second one is a spicier version. If I were forced to compare the quality and taste of the sauce, I’d have to say that King Kebab’s sauce trumps Mister Kebab’s any day. That’s just my personal opinon though.

In terms of location and cleanliness, it’s your typical open air Persian restaurant. They have a second floor that’s air conditioned but the smell of the food will stick to your clothes if you eat there.The chairs are a bit too hard, but then again that’s not what you’re after when you go to places like this, right?
