I know that this may sound weird but one of my favorite malls in Metro Manila is the Podium. I like it there because it’s not too crowded compared to malls like Robinson’s, SM Mega Mall, or Trinoma. I like the fact that I don’t have to bump into people just by walking around the mall to relax. One of the notable restaurants in Podium is Pinoy Don and they have a very unique selling proposition – the fusion of Japanese and Filipino dishes. Mich and I go here a lot and I plan on doing a full review of this place sometime soon. For now though I’d like to focus on one of their dishes that I find really good: Pinoy Don’s Tinapa Maki.

Yes, you read that right. Tinapa Maki.
Unbelievable as it may sound, this is actually the reason why I eat at Pinoy Don. The Tinapa Maki is simply uh… superb. You’d be amazed on how the Japanese preparation of the dish enhances and elevates the flavor of Tinapa to a whole new level. Mich and I were actually surprised the first time we ate this because we really didn’t expect it to taste good. I’d rather to eat this over California Maki or even Unagi Maki any day.
To those who want to give it a shot, Pinoy Don is at the top floor of Podium near the movie theaters.

Mmmm. That maki is a good idea. Smoked Eel works well in sushi, so smoked fish should, too. How much is it?
I’ll have to double check but I’m pretty sure it’s less than P150. They serve more than 5 pieces per dish too so it’s not all that bad.
5pcs siya, and the pic shows two lang. it’s that yummy? nakain niyo agad 3pcs. before taking out the camera, hahaha.
its P99
See, P99 lang pala. Very affordable. xD
@Bu: Yup naubos kagad namin bago makuha pic. Haha!
one of this days i wll have a chance to EAT sa podium….
mayroon din ata sa Cyber Mall sa Eastwood. =)
Aligue Maki FTW!
